BICI Bike Warranty & Service: 5 Years on the Frame, 2 Years on Components

A bike should last for years, not just until the warranty runs out.

That is why our responsibility for your BICI does not end when the bike is handed over. We provide a five-year warranty on our carbon frames and a standard two-year warranty on components, while individual parts can be serviced or replaced in the future just like on any other modern bicycle.

Five-year warranty on the carbon frame

The frame is the foundation of every bike and, on a carbon bike, one of its most valuable components. That is why BICI carbon frames are covered by a five-year warranty.

The warranty covers frame defects that are not caused by normal wear and tear, an accident, crash, impact, mechanical damage or improper use of the bike. If a problem occurs that was not caused by the rider, we assess it as a warranty claim according to the nature and cause of the defect.

A five-year frame warranty does not mean that a carbon frame is only designed to last five years. With correct use and proper maintenance, a carbon frame is designed for long-term use. Five years simply refers to the duration of the warranty we provide on the frame.

Two-year warranty on components

Bike components are covered by our standard two-year warranty. This applies to defects that are not caused by the rider, an accident or normal operational wear and tear.

This applies whether your bike is equipped with an established Shimano or SRAM drivetrain, WheelTop electronic shifting or an RS / SENSAH mechanical drivetrain.

Yes, the electronic rear derailleur is covered by the warranty.

An electronic rear derailleur is a bike component just like any other derailleur. If a fault develops during the warranty period and was not caused by a crash, impact, improper use or other rider-related damage, the component is covered by the two-year warranty.

Warranty vs normal wear and tear

Every bicycle includes components that naturally wear over time. Their lifespan depends on mileage, riding style, weather conditions, drivetrain cleanliness and how regularly the bike is maintained.

Component What is normal How it is covered
Carbon frame Not a wear item 5-year warranty covering frame defects not caused by the rider
Rear derailleur / front derailleur / shifters Not considered conventional wear items 2-year warranty for faults not caused by a crash or rider-related damage
Chain Naturally stretches and wears with use Normal wear and tear is not considered a warranty defect
Cassette and chainrings Teeth naturally wear with use Normal wear and tear is not considered a warranty defect
Bearings Service life depends on mileage, water, contamination and maintenance Normal operational wear is assessed separately from a manufacturing defect
Tyres Tread and rubber compound wear naturally with riding Normal wear and tear is not considered a warranty defect

In other words, the warranty protects you against product defects. It does not cover normal wear, such as a chain reaching the end of its service life after thousands of kilometres. The same principle applies across the bicycle industry.

What happens if something needs replacing after the warranty period?

A BICI bike is not a closed system that becomes difficult to repair once the warranty has expired. The frame, drivetrain, brakes, bearings, wheelset, tyres and other parts are made up of individual serviceable components.

If, for example, the cassette wears out after several years, a bearing needs replacing or you want to change your gearing, only the relevant component needs to be serviced or replaced — not the entire bike.

The same applies to the drivetrain. If a shifting component develops a fault in the future, the individual component can be replaced. And if you decide to significantly upgrade the bike later on, it is also possible to move to another technically compatible drivetrain setup.

Do I have to use BICI for servicing after the warranty expires?

No. Routine maintenance and servicing can be carried out by a professional bicycle workshop. Neither the construction of the bike nor the components we use require you to rely on one specific workshop throughout the lifetime of the bike.

A regular bike workshop can service components such as the chain, cassette, brakes, brake pads, rotors, bearings, tyres, wheels and mechanical shifting systems. WheelTop electronic shifting can also be configured and fine-tuned through the manufacturer's app.

Why does serviceability matter to us?

You do not buy a carbon bike for two years. That is why we do not want to build bikes around systems that become unserviceable once the warranty has expired or force you to replace an entire functional system because of one individual part.

FAQ

How long is the warranty on a BICI carbon frame?

We provide a five-year warranty on BICI carbon frames.

How long is the warranty on components?

Components are covered by a standard two-year warranty, provided the fault was not caused by the rider or by normal wear and tear.

Is the WheelTop electronic rear derailleur covered by the warranty?

Yes. The electronic rear derailleur is considered a bike component and is covered by the two-year warranty under the conditions described above.

Is a worn chain or cassette covered by the warranty?

Normal wear of chains, cassettes, chainrings, tyres and other wear items is not considered a warranty defect. If there is a genuine manufacturing defect, it will of course be assessed according to its actual cause.

Can I have my BICI serviced at a regular bike shop after the warranty expires?

Yes. BICI bikes use common bicycle standards, and routine maintenance and servicing can be carried out by a professional bicycle workshop.
